County Courts

The county courts are a network of local courts of limited civil and matrimonial jurisdiction. Some of those courts also have jurisdiction in admiralty and insolvency. The Central London County Court has jurisdiction in patents and designs pursuant to s.287 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (see Patents County Court).

Though separate from the Senior Courts most county courts outside London share staff and buildings with the District Registries of the High Court. Courts that share staff and premises with a chancery district registry are known as Chancery County Courts.
