The Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (“OHIM”) is the European Union trade marks and designs registration office. It was established by art 2 of the Community Trade Marks Regulation  (Council Regulation (EC) No 207/2009 of 26 February 2009 on the Community trade mark) to examine and grant applications for Community trade marks.   OHIM also registers Community designs.   The Office is based in Alicante and employs some 600 staff.   OHIM is organized very much like the EPO with a president, a number of administrative divisions and boards of appeal.
